Kol Nidre 5781

Dear Member and Supporter,

Rosh Hashana services under the tent at The House of Israel was a meaningful, inspirational and unique experience. Those of us participating will always fondly remember the wonderful leadership of Rabbi Carlebach, Cantor Epstein and Rabbi Altein; Yosher Koach to them and to Gerry Phillips, Debby Leboff and our caretaker Denis Chartier, together with Rabbi Carlebach and his volunteer team, for getting the tent set up together with the heaters.

One of the most poignant phrases in the Machzor is:

But REPENTANCE, PRAYER and CHARITY avert the evil of the decree

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks says “Repentance is our relationship to ourselves. Prayer is our relationship to G-d. Charity is our relationship to others. In repentance we look inward. In Prayer we look upward. In charity we look outward. We should be honest in our relationship with ourselves, humble in our relationship to G-d and generous in our relationship with others.” In this time of the escalating pandemic our shul needs have never being greater. We ask you to give generously to our annual Kol Nidre Appeal by completing the pledge form below or by calling Debby Leboff at 514-893-6015 and thus, fulfilling this portion of the mitzvah. Your donation will be greatly appreciated.

L’Shana Tova,
Elliot Berzan, President
Rabbi Emanuel Carlebach
